Carlsen won the Chess.com Open Playoffs after a brutal comeback against Jan-Krzysztof Duda in the Grand Final. Duda came out of the losers bracket firing, crushing Carlsen 2.5-0.5 in their first match. Carlsen looked vulnerable for the first time all week.

But that's not how this ends.

Carlsen regrouped and took the second match decisively, forcing a tiebreak. In rapid chess where mistakes get punished instantly, Carlsen simply outplayed Duda when it mattered most. The world number one recovered from a brutal opening deficit to claim the title.

This is vintage Carlsen. Down, not out. He doesn't panic when he loses. He adjusts. He finds the weaknesses in his opponent's play and exploits them. Duda had every chance to win after that dominant first match. He couldn't finish.

The tournament itself was a Team Liquid showcase. Carlsen represented the organization throughout and delivered results when his team needed them. For Duda, it's another near-miss in a major event. The Polish grandmaster has the skills to win these tournaments. He just hasn't found the final answer against Carlsen when everything is on the line.
